I think you’re right that PFA will solve some of the readability concerns you have.

Another interesting thing is the ligatures in JetBrains Mono turn |> into a glyph that looks like ▷, which is easier to read, IMO.

As with a lot of Larry’s work, this pushes PHP towards unlocking Functional Programming, and it’s optional, so the “old way” still works.
